Centre Philosophy

Mission Statement:

To provide quality early childhood care and education, where each child is valued as an individual and where they can grow and develop to their full potential.

Philosophy:

  • We believe that by encouraging children to make decision about their own learning through problem solving, questioning, using trial and error and making discoveries they will grow into competent, confident learners
  • We believe that each child’s culture and beliefs should be valued and respected
  • We are committed to the guidelines and principles of Te Whariki, the New Zealand Early childhood curriculum
  • We are committed to incorporating biculturalism in the various curriculum areas and the general environment of our centre
  • We believe that the inclusion of family and the community are an integral part of our centre
  • As part of our programme, we will encourage and assist in the development of children’s independent skills
