Kristin Colthurst, Centre Director/Owner, Half Moon Bay

kristin and aaron_small.jpgHaving recently gained a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture, Kristin Colthurst has some incredible plans for the outdoor play area of Half Moon Bay’s Lollipops centre. Add to the mix a Bachelor of Business Studies, a Diploma of Marketing and a Certificate in Graphic Design (as well as being a mum to two great kids!), and it becomes clear that Kristin has a creative mind that likes to be busy. Kristin has enjoyed a successful career working in senior marketing positions within a variety of organizations including the Auckland Museum. As Centre Director and part-owner, Kristin works closely with the staff to develop a positive environment in which children are exposed to new and exciting opportunities. As a mum, Kristin relates to the needs and concerns of parents who use the centre and works hard to ensure that the centre exceeds their expectations.

“I feel very lucky to be working with such a great team of committed, caring, and enthusiastic staff. We work very closely together to ensure the children are thriving in an environment where art, creativity and imagination are the foundations of learning and discovery.”

Elaine Lim, Centre Supervisor, Half Moon Bay

elaine.jpgCentre Supervisor, Elaine Lim, joined the team at Lollipops Half Moon Bay in August 2009. Elaine brings a wealth of skill and experience, in both teaching and business, to the centre. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), a Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood), an Advanced Diploma in Business Management, and a Diploma in Sales and Marketing Management. Proficient in both English and Chinese, Elaine’s background adds to the culturally diverse learning experience available to the children. Her strong knowledge of the current New Zealand Early Childhood Education Curriculum is a valuable asset to the centre and to parents who wish to know more about their children’s learning opportunities. Elaine is an active volunteer within her local community and is planning to provide her services to the Red Cross and Cancer Society in the near future. Elaine’s positive attitude and genuine love of working in the early childhood sector add to the encouraging and supportive atmosphere that flourishes within the centre.

“I enjoy seeing and working with teachers that have a great passion in working with children. I believe that love and respect are the key elements in working with young children.”
