Centre Philosophy
Lollipops Hastings PhilosophyAt Lollipops Educare Hastings we support children’s desire and ability to succeed today, tomorrow and in the future. We believe in and promote open communication between children, teachers, parents, whanau and the community. The rights, values, culture and diversity of children and their families are respected. Our main beliefs about child development are that, teachers and children learn in partnership together through the sharing of ideas, responsive and reciprocal relationships, meaningful conversations and interactions which encourage the children to become competent and confident learners. We believe that the centre environment has to be relaxed, friendly and safe for both children and adults where routines are flexible and in tune with the child’s rhythm. We encourage learning in a fun, supportive, warm and welcoming setting. We acknowledge and embrace the dual heritage of both partners to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We invite parent involvement and are inclusive of all cultures within our community. Our planning is based on teachers listening to and observing each child so they can plan around the child’s strengths and interests. Teachers consistently undertake ongoing assessment reflection and evaluation of the programme and work as a team and value continuous learning. Parent and whanau involvement in the planning for their children is highly valued. All adults in the centre will provide realistic achievable boundaries and consistency in their expectations of and behaviors with children. They will encourage children to make choices, try new things, grow and have fun in their thinking and learning while they explore and experiment with the world around them. |
