Kia ora koutou, our gardening program is now well under way, our prep room (Totara) classroom tamariki have had their second gardening session. Today tamariki were busy working outside clearing the planter boxes, getting these ready for our next session where the tamariki are planning on planting the seedlings that have sprouted from their first session. So very exctiing for the children to be learning about the full food cycle from seed to plate! Our Toddler (Rimu) classroom tamariki have also joined in the gardening program. They developed a strong interest in gardening after one of our whānau put us forward for a koha to receive little planter starter kits. The tamariki loved the experience and so we are scaffolding that beautiful learning around the natural world for them, having invited Kiwi gardeners to come and work with our gorgeous toddlers once a fortnight, catering the program to their age and stage.
