Celebrating Matariki

We started the evening with our lovely kaiako Carolyn playing the guitar and welcoming whānau into the centre. Opening with a welcome to all, tamariki showcased all the hard work and practice they have put into learning  their waiata and kani kani, with our older tamariki taking the lead and supporting others. Kaiako joined in with their Pepeha and own waiata before we came together again for karakia and shared kai. Carol did a wonderful job of making soup and kumara patties from the gifted vegetables received from families. What a wonderful relaxed and social evening we had, thanks for everyone for joining with us to celebrate Matariki and looking forward to next year’s event already 😊
