Our Rooms

Lollipops Warkworth has two rooms, respectively catering to children from 3 months to 2.5 years and from 2.5 years through to 5 years, enabling us to deliver safe but challenging, nurturing, and age-appropriate learning experiences for the children. Both rooms offer large outdoor spaces including edible gardens, a mini-coop and a mini-orchard.

The Nest

Calm and peaceful, the Nest is a home away from home for the youngest members of our Lollipops Warkworth family: our little ones aged from 3 months to 2.5 years. We offer a 1:4 teacher-to-child ratio. We follow children’s individual rhythms and allow them to grow and learn at their own unhurried pace. We are guided by the time of day, but we do not go ‘by the clock’.

A typical day at the Nest:

Children are welcomed. Settling children in with calming/quiet morning activities. Breakfast if needed.

Free play/heuristic activities both indoors and outdoors. Care moments as per individual child’s needs.

Children are invited to have morning tea.

Planned activities to extend children’s individual interests are offered in various curriculum areas along with indoor and outdoor free play. Nap time and care moments as per individual child’s needs.

Piwakawaka Room

With an unlimited offer of fun and adventure, the Piwakawaka Room is a welcoming and engaging space that caters for our children aged 2.5 to 5 years where they are increasingly encouraged to be independent and take responsibility for themselves, their belongings, and the environment.

Tui Group is our transition-to-school programme for our children over 4 years, which has been developed in consultation with new entrant teachers from our local primary schools. With support and guidance from the transition-to-school teacher, the children meet each day in the dedicated “Tui Room” where they spend time to further develop skills and knowledge that will stand them in good stead as they take on the challenges that formal learning brings.
